After having a rest in "Kaikoura" we made our way up north to the northern part of the South Island because we hadn't much time left until our ferry to the North Island will left. We visited a campsite next to "Blenheim" where we planned the upcoming days and the rest of our journey. After that we slept on a campsite in "Rarangi" which had a really nice bay where I tried to take some photos from the sunset and the sunrise. In the night we had a wonderful clear sky which was perfect for some milky way shots. But after the moon raised it was to bright for taking pictures of the milky way.
The next day the ferry left "Picton" and brought us and our car over the "Cook Straight" to "Wellington". As we arrived at the North Island we decided to stay three more days in "Wellington" to walk around the city. Such a beautiful city!
We left the capital of New Zealand and drove to "Eketahuna" through a beautiful valley which was full of trees. Our next big destination was the volcano "Taranaki" also called "Mount Taranaki".
When we arrived at the Mount "Taranaki National Park" we wanted to do a little hike to get closer to the volcano but we hadn’t much luck and so we were stocked into dense fog. We had to gave up because we didn’t get any view of "Mount Taranaki". In the night we had another time a perfect clear sky and we had new moon which is perfect for capturing the milky way. With the glowing from the city "New Plymouth" I made the best milky way shots I’ve ever did.
At the next day we had perfect weather conditions to take a look at beautiful "Mount Taranaki" but we hadn’t enough time to do another track.
Nachdem wir uns einen Tag ausgeruht hatten, fuhren wir weiter an die nördliche Spitze der Südinsel, da schon bald unsere Fähre in Richtung Nordinsel ablegte. Wir besuchten einen Campingplatz in der Nähe von „Blenheim" und verbrachten dort die Ostertage mit Recherchen über die weitere Reiseplanung. Danach ging es weiter auf einen Campingplatz in "Rarangi". Dort gab es eine wundervolle kleine Bucht, in der wir sowohl Fotos vom Sonnenaufgang, als auch vom Sonnenuntergang machten. In der Nacht hatten wir einen klaren Sternenhimmel, der das Fotografieren der Milchstraße ermöglichte, jedoch nur bis der Mond aufging.
Am nächsten Tag fuhren wir mit der Bluebridge Fähre über die Cook-Straße von "Picton" nach "Wellington". Wieder angekommen auf der Nordinsel verbrachten wir 3 Tage in "Wellington" und schauten uns noch ein wenig in der schönen Stadt um. Als nächstes wollten wir auf dem "Mount Taranaki" wandern gehen. Wir fuhren aus "Wellington" hinaus, durch ein mit hohen Bäumen bewachsenes Tal, nach Eketahuna. Auf dem Campingplatz bekamen wir abends einen sehr schönen Sonnenuntergang, welcher die Wolken wunderschön orange färbte.
Angekommen am "Mount Taranaki" versuchten wir eine Wanderung auf den Vulkan zu machen, aber wir kamen leider nicht weit, da der Nebel zu dicht wurde und wir keine Sicht auf den Vulkan hatten. In der Nacht aber hatten wir annähernd einen klaren Himmel der uns mal wieder eine wunderschöne Milchstraße präsentierte. Mit dem Glühen der Stadt "New Plymouth" konnten die bis jetzt schönsten Milchstraßen Fotos gemacht werden. Am nächsten Tag bekamen wir dann zum Glück auch noch einmal den Vulkan zu sehen, aber zum erneuten Wandern blieb leider keine Zeit mehr.
